Akihiro Mayama is a Japanese former actor born in Natori, Miyagi Prefecture. He launched his entertainment career after winning the Special Jury Prize at the 17th Junon Super Boy Contest in 2004, a launchpad that quickly led to theatrical and screen auditions due to his striking looks and refined screen presence.
He gained substantial mainstream visibility during the late 2000s through back-to-back appearances in popular youth and school dramas. Notable among these were his roles as Akihiro Terauchi in the hit high-school drama "Gokusen 3" (2008) and the butler Aoyama in the live-action adaptation of "Mei-chan no Shitsuji" (2009). Later in his career, he achieved recognition among tokusatsu fans for his portrayal of the cold and ambitious primary antagonist Adel in "Kamen Rider Ghost" (2015–2016).
In addition to his film and television projects, Mayama established a strong stage career, performing in a variety of stage plays and musicals. In March 2020, Mayama announced his official retirement from the entertainment industry to pursue a career outside of show business.
