Addicted is a groundbreaking Chinese web series based on the novel 'Are You Addicted?' by Chai Jidan. The story follows the life of Bai Luo Yin, a high-achieving student living with his father and grandmother, whose life is turned upside down when his mother remarries a high-ranking government official, Gu Wei Ting. Through a series of coincidences, Luo Yin crosses paths with Gu Hai, the rebellious son of his new stepfather, who is trying to escape his father's controlling influence. As the two boys are forced into the same classroom and living situation, their initial animosity evolves into a complex, intense, and deeply emotional bond. The series explores the challenges of their burgeoning relationship, navigating societal pressures, family secrets, and the intense psychological pull they have toward one another. It remains a landmark production in the Boys' Love (BL) genre, noted for its raw performances and significant cultural impact despite its abrupt removal from Chinese streaming platforms during its initial run.
