Afro Samurai follows the journey of a lone, stoic warrior known as Afro, who wanders a futuristic, post-apocalyptic version of feudal Japan. As a child, he witnessed his father, the holder of the 'Number One' headband, being brutally murdered by a gunslinging outlaw named Justice. Driven by an insatiable need for vengeance, Afro seeks the 'Number Two' headband, which grants him the right to challenge the Number One for the ultimate title and the god-like power that comes with it. Throughout his quest, Afro is pursued by various assassins, bounty hunters, and cultists who covet his headband. He is accompanied by a loud-mouthed, eccentric sidekick named Ninja Ninja, who serves as a constant, often annoying, voice of reason and comic relief. The series is renowned for its stylized animation, hip-hop-infused soundtrack produced by RZA, and its blend of traditional samurai tropes with modern urban aesthetics.
