Angel follows the brooding vampire with a soul, Angel, who leaves Sunnydale and relocates to Los Angeles to set up shop as a private detective and supernatural champion. Seeking redemption for a centuries-long history of brutal murders committed under his human-cursed vampire persona, Angel is joined by a ragtag group of allies including fellow former Scooby Gang member Cordelia Chase and rogue demon hunter Doyle. Together, they form Angel Investigations to help the helpless and fight the encroaching evil forces of the demonic law firm Wolfram & Hart. As the series progresses, the scope shifts from street-level noir investigations to epic, apocalyptic battles involving prophecy, existential dread, and the corrupting nature of corporate power. Angel confronts the bitter realities of heroism, testing his moral code against ancient prophecies, demonic conspiracies, and the ultimate test of fatherhood when a miraculous human son is born to him. Through shifting alliances, tragic losses, and grueling trials, the series explores themes of redemption, free will, and the choice to do good even when the universe seems inherently hopeless.
