Set in 1998, transfer student Kouichi Sakakibara arrives at Yomiyama North Junior High and is immediately unsettled by the strange, fearful atmosphere surrounding Class 3-3. He soon becomes drawn to Mei Misaki, an enigmatic girl wearing an eyepatch whom the rest of the class and faculty treat as if she does not exist. Kouichi unknowingly breaches the class taboos, inadvertently triggering a horrific curse that has plagued the classroom for 26 years. As students and their relatives begin dying in increasingly gruesome and bizarre accidents, Kouichi and Mei must race against time to uncover the origin of the curse and find a way to stop it before everyone they know is eliminated. They realize that every month someone from the class—or someone related to them—is marked for death, and the only way to survive is to figure out the identity of the 'extra' person who is already dead.
