Awaken is a South Korean mystery-thriller that follows Do Jung-woo, a brilliant and eccentric team leader at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's special task force. Alongside his passionate and headstrong partner Gong Hye-won, he investigates a series of bizarre, cryptic murders that seem to be connected to a tragic incident that occurred in a small village 28 years ago. As they delve deeper into the case, they cross paths with Jamie Layton, an FBI agent who returns to Korea to solve the mystery of her own forgotten past. As the investigation unfolds, the trio uncovers a dark conspiracy involving a secret organization known as the White Night Foundation, which has been conducting unethical human experiments. The series masterfully blends elements of science fiction and crime drama, forcing the protagonists to question the morality of their actions and the true nature of human consciousness as they race against time to expose the truth behind the 'Awaken' project.
