After being coerced by the Japanese intelligence officer Zhou Haichao, Chen Shan is forced to assume the identity of the late agent to infiltrate the Nationalist government's Chongqing headquarters as a double agent. As Chen Shan navigates the treacherous waters of espionage, he encounters Zhang Li, a dedicated underground Communist operative who sees through his facade. Through her influence and the harsh realities of the war, Chen Shan undergoes a profound transformation, evolving from a self-serving survivor into a patriotic hero who risks everything to protect his country and his people from the Japanese invaders.
