Beast Wars: Transformers

Set centuries after the events of the original Generation 1 Transformers series, the story follows the Maximals and the Predacons, descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons respectively. Under the leadership of Optimus Primal, a crew of Maximals pursuing the rogue Predacon Megatron crash-lands on a mysterious prehistoric planet rich in raw energon. Because the planet's atmosphere is too saturated with energon for their traditional vehicle forms, the Cybertronians adopt organic beast modes to survive. As the series progresses, the localized skirmishes evolve into a high-stakes temporal conflict when it is revealed that the planet is actually prehistoric Earth. Megatron seeks to alter history by destroying the dormant body of the original Autobot leader, Optimus Prime, which would ensure a Decepticon victory in the future. The Maximals must fight not only to stop the Predacons' schemes but also to protect the timeline and the primitive human ancestors known as the Early Humans.
