Beyond Wukong is a modern fantasy-drama that reimagines the legacy of the Monkey King in a contemporary setting. The story follows a young, disillusioned man named Sun Wu who discovers he is the reincarnation of a celestial warrior. As ancient mythological threats begin to manifest in the bustling urban landscape of modern-day China, Sun Wu must reconcile his mundane life with his divine heritage to protect humanity from a rising darkness that seeks to rewrite the cosmic order. As he navigates this transition, he is joined by a group of unlikely allies, each representing modern archetypes of the classic Journey to the West characters. Together, they must master forgotten mystical arts while dealing with the pressures of corporate espionage and societal collapse. The series explores themes of identity, the burden of destiny, and the struggle to maintain one's humanity when faced with god-like power.
