Big Top

Big Top is a British television sitcom that takes viewers behind the scenes of Circus Maestro, a struggling and ramshackle travelling circus troupe making its way across towns in the United Kingdom. Run by the determined and ambitious ringmistress Lizzie, the troupe fights an uphill battle against dwindling audiences, meager finances, and constant backstage chaos. The show humorously explores the friction and eccentricities within the performer community, from an alcoholic, disillusioned clown named Plonky to an accident-prone sound and lighting operator, an aging acrobat, and peculiar sideshow personalities. Despite their fierce arguments, rivalries, and professional ineptitude, the performers form an unconventional surrogate family striving to keep the spectacle alive under the canvas.
