Bootsie and Snudge

Bootsie and Snudge is a classic British television sitcom that originally aired on ITV, created by Barry Cryer and Marty Feldman. Set in the Johnson Arms, a boarding house managed by the eccentric and strict Claude Snudge, the series revolves around the comical clashes between the various residents. The central dynamic features Snudge, an officious and downtrodden assistant, and Bootsie, a well-meaning but utterly befuddled and bumbling elderly lodger whose antics constantly drive Snudge to distraction. Throughout the series, the comedy stems from the class struggles, daily frustrations, and witty verbal sparring between the characters, capturing the quintessential British comedy style of the early 1960s. Alongside Bootsie and Snudge, the boarding house is populated by an array of quirky supporting characters, including the formidable landlord Percy Rudge, whose presence keeps the residents on their toes. The show became a significant hit of its era, making household names of its lead actors and cementing itself as a staple of early British television comedy.
