Bordertown (Sorjonen) is a Finnish crime drama series that follows Kari Sorjonen, one of the most respected officers at the National Bureau of Investigation in Finland. Seeking a quieter life for his family after his wife recovers from a brain tumor, Sorjonen moves to the idyllic town of Lappeenranta, located near the Russian border. However, he soon discovers that the town is far from peaceful, as it becomes a hub for complex and gruesome criminal activities that test his brilliant, albeit unconventional, deductive skills. As Sorjonen navigates the dark underbelly of the border region, he is forced to balance his intense investigative work with his responsibilities as a husband and father. The series is noted for its atmospheric tension, psychological depth, and the unique 'mind palace' technique Sorjonen uses to solve cases. Throughout the series, he collaborates with Lena Jaakkola, a tough and resourceful officer from the Russian FSB, forming a complex partnership that bridges the gap between two very different legal systems and cultures.
