Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons

Set in the year 2068, the series follows the global security organization Spectrum in their relentless war against the Mysterons, a powerful extraterrestrial intelligence from Mars. After a misunderstanding leads a human expeditionary force to attack a Mysteron Martian complex, the aliens vow merciless retaliation, possessing the unique ability to reconstruct destroyed matter and create indestructible agents of destruction. Spectrum's top operative, Captain Scarlet, is killed and subsequently resurrected by the Mysterons, but breaks free of their control, retaining a retro-metabolic power that makes him virtually indestructible.
