Children of the 20th Century follows the lives of three childhood friends who grew up in the same neighborhood and are now in their mid-thirties. Sa Jin-jin is a popular idol-turned-actress who has never been in a real relationship, Han Ah-reum is a flight attendant struggling with her weight, and Jang Young-shim is a lawyer who finds herself suddenly unemployed. The series explores their deep bond, their professional struggles, and their search for love in a fast-paced modern society. The narrative centers on the rekindled connection between Sa Jin-jin and Gong Ji-won, a childhood crush who returns to Korea after living abroad. As they navigate the complexities of adulthood, the trio faces personal crises, family expectations, and the realization that the friendships formed in their youth remain their most stable foundation. It is a nostalgic and comforting look at the transition from the innocence of the 1990s to the realities of the present day.
