Set in two distinct time periods—Part 1 taking place in 2017 ('Beta Project') and Part 2 in 2037 ('Brave New World')—the series explores a sci-fi mystery involving alien technology. In 2017, college student Kim Woo-jin investigates mysterious deaths linked to his mysterious childhood encounter with an extraterrestrial being, which also involves his twin brother, Kim Bum-gyun. Twenty years later in 2037, Earth has been divided into 'Smart Earth'—a utopian society free of crime and emotion—and 'General Earth', where humans suffer from rampant disease and lawlessness. Detective Lee Ho-soo from Smart Earth teams up with a General Earth investigator to uncover the truth behind the oppressive human brain-suppression system and find out what happened to Woo-jin.
