Code Blue: Extra Edition is a television special that bridges the narrative gap between the emotionally intense events of the first season and the challenges of the second season. The story follows the rigorous, high-stakes lives of four young fellowship doctors—Kosaku Aizawa, Megumi Shiraishi, Mihoko Hiyama, and Kazuo Fujikawa—alongside flight nurse Haruka Saejima, as they operate aboard emergency rescue helicopters at Shohoku Hospital. Balancing the psychological weight of life-and-death medical emergencies with their own personal shortcomings and familial struggles, the team must learn what it truly means to be reliable medical professionals.
