Crisis follows a specialized unit within the Public Security Bureau of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The team, known as the 'Special Investigation Squad,' is composed of highly skilled individuals who handle dangerous, high-stakes cases that threaten national security, including political conspiracies, terrorism, and religious cults. The squad operates in the shadows, often navigating the gray areas of the law to protect the country from threats that the standard police force is ill-equipped to handle. The series centers on Akira Inami, a former Self-Defense Force member with a traumatic past, and Saburo Tamaru, a stoic and disciplined operative. As they work together, they are forced to confront the moral complexities of their missions and the corruption within the government they serve. The show is known for its intense, realistic action sequences and its exploration of the heavy psychological toll that state-sanctioned violence takes on those tasked with maintaining order.
