Cucumber is a British television drama series created by Russell T. Davies that explores the lives of gay men in contemporary Manchester. The story centers on Henry Best, a middle-aged man whose long-term relationship with his partner, Lance, ends abruptly after a disastrous date. This catalyst forces Henry to navigate a new, unfamiliar world of modern dating, social dynamics, and personal identity, often with chaotic and poignant results. The series is notable for its companion show, Banana, which focuses on the younger characters in Henry's orbit, and the online documentary series Tofu. Together, these projects form a sprawling, interconnected narrative that examines the complexities of sexuality, aging, and the search for connection in the 21st century, blending dark comedy with profound emotional depth.
