Created by legendary manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori, 'Cyborg 009' follows nine ordinary human beings from around the world who are abducted and forcibly transformed into powerful cyborgs by Black Ghost, a shadowy, militaristic syndicate bent on instigating a new world war. Led by Joe Shimamura (009), the cyborgs manage to rebel against their creators with the help of their mastermind, Dr. Isaac Gilmore. Utilizing their unique, enhanced abilities, the team travels the globe to dismantle Black Ghost's operations and confront various threats ranging from ancient gods to advanced alien civilizations. The narrative explores themes of humanity, identity, and the heavy burden of being turned into living weapons. Each of the nine cyborgs possesses a distinct power—from super speed and underwater adaptation to flight and molecular manipulation—representing diverse cultural backgrounds and tragic personal histories that unite them into a surrogate family.
