Dagashi Kashi

Kokonotsu Shikada is an aspiring manga artist who dreams of a life outside his rural hometown, much to the dismay of his father, Yo, who desperately wants him to inherit the family's traditional 'dagashi' (cheap candy) shop. The status quo is shattered by the arrival of Hotaru Shidare, an eccentric and beautiful girl from a famous candy manufacturing conglomerate. Hotaru is on a mission to recruit Yo to her company, but he refuses to leave his shop unless she can convince Kokonotsu to take over the business. What follows is a series of comedic encounters where Hotaru obsessively educates Kokonotsu and his friends on the history, cultural significance, and unique ways to enjoy various dagashi. As the group explores the nuances of these nostalgic treats, the series blends lighthearted humor with a genuine appreciation for Japanese snack culture, all while Kokonotsu struggles to balance his artistic ambitions with his family legacy.
