Damo

Set in the Joseon Dynasty, Damo follows Chae-ok, a young woman born into nobility whose family is destroyed by political conspiracy. Separated from her beloved older brother, she is reduced to the status of a 'damo'—a low-ranking female police detective tasked with handling household chores and investigating crimes involving women. Despite her social standing, she possesses exceptional martial arts skills and keen investigative instincts, working under the brilliant and empathetic Commander Hwangbo Yoon, with whom she shares a deep, unspoken bond. As Chae-ok delves deeper into her cases, she uncovers a vast counterfeit currency ring orchestrated by Jang Sung-baek, a charismatic rebel leader fighting against government corruption. Complicating matters further, Chae-ok finds herself irresistibly drawn to Sung-baek, torn between her loyalty to Commander Yoon, her duty to the state, and her growing sympathy for the rebels. The series is celebrated for its groundbreaking fusion of traditional historical drama with stylish wire-fu action, emotional depth, and a poignant exploration of doomed romance.
