DearS follows the chaotic daily life of Takeya Ikuhara, an ordinary Japanese high school student whose life changes forever when a spacecraft carrying genetically engineered alien refugees crash-lands on Earth. Among them is Ren, a high-ranking 'DearS' slave who escapes and crosses paths with Takeya. Mistakenly binding herself to Takeya as her master, Ren knows nothing about human society, emotions, or boundaries. As Takeya tries to teach Ren how to live among humans, they must navigate cultural misunderstandings, government interest in the alien refugees, and the blossoming, awkward romantic feelings between them.
