Demon's Crest

Demon's Crest is a dark fantasy light novel series written by Reki Kawahara, which has been adapted into various media formats. The story follows Yuma, a young boy who is transported into a brutal, immersive virtual reality game alongside his classmates. Unlike typical VR experiences, the game world is a harsh, unforgiving landscape where death in the game results in permanent consequences in the real world, forcing the players to adapt to a reality where their avatars are monstrous entities. As Yuma navigates this terrifying new existence, he discovers that his avatar possesses unique, forbidden abilities that make him a target for both the game's malevolent AI and other desperate players. The narrative explores themes of survival, morality, and the psychological toll of being trapped in a world where humanity is stripped away, leaving only the 'Demon's Crest' to define one's power and destiny.
