Difficult People stars Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner as best friends living in New York City who are aspiring comedians unfettered by the fact that everyone else is an idiot. They find themselves eternally disgruntled by the pop culture mainstream and anyone who manages to achieve success or happiness, while navigating their own failing careers and dysfunctional personal lives. Throughout the series, Julie and Billy lean heavily on each other for support while engaging in misanthropic schemes and vicious pop-culture critiques. Their shared disdain for humanity creates a unique bond, though their cynical worldview and self-sabotaging behavior frequently land them in bizarre and awkward social situations, testing the limits of their friendship and their tolerance for the modern world.
