Doctor X: Mafia in White

Michiko Daimon is an unorthodox, free-wheeling freelance surgeon who refuses to be tied down to university hospitals or their labyrinthine corporate hierarchies. Dispatched via a shadowy doctors' temp agency, she steps into prestigious hospital environments poisoned by institutional politics, backroom deals, and white-collar corruption—a medical establishment effectively run like a ruthless mafia in white coats. Despite the overt hostility of tenured professors and career-climbing administrators, Daimon accepts only high-risk, near-impossible surgeries. Bound by a strict contract that explicitly exempts her from unnecessary paperwork, faculty rounds, and pandering to hospital executives, Daimon's nonconformist attitude constantly infuriates chief executives and departmental chairs. Her singular dedication is to the operating table, driven by exceptional surgical skills, sharp medical intuition, and an unwavering commitment to patient survival over institutional reputation. As power struggles between rival factions threaten the integrity of medical care, Daimon cuts through the bureaucracy with razor-sharp precision. With her signature declaration—'I will never fail'—she confronts greed and incompetence head-on, proving that true surgical excellence answers only to the patient, never to the syndicate of power-hungry doctors.
