Extras

Overview

Created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, 'Extras' follows the cynical and mundane lives of Andy Millman and Maggie Jacobs, who work as background actors (extras) on various film and television sets. Andy, a frustrated aspiring writer-director who gave up his day job for a shot at fame, continually tries to secure a speaking line, often leading to mortifying social blunders and desperate schemes alongside his sweet, naive friend Maggie. As the series progresses, Andy finally gets his big break with a deeply compromised sitcom called 'When the Whistle Blows', achieving the shallow mainstream fame he always wanted at the cost of his artistic dignity. The show brilliant explores the dark side of celebrity culture, human ego, and the humiliation of trying to make it in show business, featuring iconic guest appearances by A-list Hollywood stars playing hilariously exaggerated versions of themselves.
