F Troop

Set in the post-Civil War era, F Troop follows the misadventures of the soldiers stationed at Fort Courage, a remote outpost in the American West. The series centers on Captain Wilton Parmenter, a well-meaning but incredibly clumsy officer who accidentally becomes a hero at the Battle of Appomattox and is subsequently promoted and assigned to command the fort. Upon arrival, he discovers that his troops are a collection of lazy, incompetent, and scheming soldiers who have no interest in military discipline. The primary conflict revolves around the soldiers' attempts to maintain their comfortable, lazy lifestyle while keeping their incompetence hidden from visiting inspectors. They form a secret, mutually beneficial business partnership with the local Hekawi tribe, led by Chief Wild Eagle. The show is defined by its slapstick humor, satirical take on Western tropes, and the constant efforts of Sergeant O'Rourke and Corporal Agarn to manipulate the naive Captain Parmenter to keep their various rackets running smoothly.
