Feng Shen Bang

Overview

Based on the 16th-century Chinese novel 'Fengshen Yanyi', the series chronicles the downfall of the corrupt King Zhou of Shang and the rise of the Zhou Dynasty. The narrative follows the celestial conflict triggered when King Zhou insults the goddess Nüwa, leading her to send the fox spirit Daji to bewitch him and accelerate the collapse of his kingdom through cruelty and decadence. As the empire descends into chaos, the sage Jiang Ziya descends from the Kunlun Mountains to assist the Zhou army. He leads a coalition of heroes, immortals, and mythical beings in a monumental war against the Shang forces, who are backed by various dark deities and sorcerers. The series is a grand tapestry of fantasy, political intrigue, and mythological warfare, culminating in the 'Investiture of the Gods,' where the souls of those who perished in the conflict are canonized in the celestial bureaucracy.
