The story follows Soma Yukihira, a teenager who has worked alongside his father in their family's small-town diner since he was a child. With a dream of surpassing his father's culinary skills, Soma is suddenly enrolled in the prestigious Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, an elite academy where only 10% of students graduate. The school is famous for its 'Shokugeki'—intense, high-stakes cooking duels where students wager their academic futures on the quality of their dishes. As Soma navigates the cutthroat environment of Totsuki, he encounters a diverse cast of talented chefs, including the cold and perfectionist Erina Nakiri. Through sheer determination, unconventional techniques, and a relentless drive to innovate, Soma challenges the status quo of the culinary elite. The series explores themes of growth, rivalry, and the transformative power of food, as Soma strives to prove that his humble diner background can compete with the best in the world.
