Set in a rural village in the 1960s through the 1980s, 'Golden Apple' is a heartwarming and poignant melodrama that follows the lives of four siblings who lose their mother and are subsequently abandoned by their stepmother. Eldest brother Kyung-gu takes on the immense responsibility of raising his younger siblings—Kyung-min, Kyung-sook, and Kyung-goo—while facing profound hardships, poverty, and betrayal. The narrative intricately weaves themes of familial love, ambition, resilience, and forgiveness as the siblings grow up and navigate the tumultuous landscape of Korea's rapid modernization. Along the way, they encounter romance, bitter rivalries, and long-buried secrets regarding their family's past, ultimately discovering the true meaning of reconciliation and brotherhood.
