Hap and Leonard is a dark, gritty swamp noir series based on the acclaimed book series by Joe R. Lansdale. Set in late 1980s East Texas, the story follows Hap Collins, a white working-class white boy with a penchant for trouble and Southern women, and Leonard Pine, a gay, black Vietnam War veteran with severe anger management issues and a strict moral code. Together, the lifelong best friends navigate a treacherous world of eccentric criminals, systemic racism, local politics, and violent conspiracies. Throughout its three-season run, the duo stumbles into various high-stakes predicaments that test their loyalty and survival skills. From hunting down a cache of revolutionary money with Hap's seductive ex-wife Trudy in Season 1, to investigating the murder of Leonard's uncle in a deeply racist town in Season 2, and finally tracking down a missing teenage girl amidst Ku Klux Klan activity in Season 3, Hap and Leonard blend razor-sharp dark humor, social commentary, and visceral action.
