High & Low is a sprawling multimedia franchise centered on the S.W.O.R.D. district, an area formerly controlled by the legendary gang Mugen. Following the dissolution of Mugen, the district is divided into five distinct territories, each ruled by a powerful gang: Sannoh Rengokai, White Rascals, Oya Kohkoh, Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka. The fragile peace between these factions is constantly threatened by internal power struggles and the looming shadow of the Kuryu Group, a powerful yakuza syndicate seeking to redevelop the area. The narrative follows the interconnected lives of various gang members as they navigate loyalty, brotherhood, and the consequences of violence. As the Kuryu Group attempts to exert control over the district, the five gangs must decide whether to remain rivals or unite against a common enemy. The series is renowned for its high-octane action sequences, stylized cinematography, and an expansive ensemble cast that explores the complex dynamics of street-level power and honor.
