High & Low: The Story of S.W.O.R.D. is the inaugural season of the expansive High & Low multimedia franchise. The story centers on a fictional area known as 'SWORD,' which was once controlled by the legendary gang Mugen. After Mugen disbanded, the area was carved into five distinct territories, each ruled by a powerful gang: Sannoh Rengokai, White Rascals, Oya Kohkoh, Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka. The fragile peace between these factions is threatened by the emergence of the mysterious Kuryu Group and internal power struggles. The series follows the interconnected lives of the leaders and members of these gangs as they navigate loyalty, brotherhood, and violent turf wars. As the groups are forced to confront external threats and their own pasts, the narrative explores the complex dynamics of honor and survival in a world where strength is the only currency. The show is renowned for its high-octane action sequences, stylized cinematography, and a massive ensemble cast that defines the gritty, urban aesthetic of the franchise.
