Highschool of the Dead follows a group of high school students, a school nurse, and a young girl as they fight their way through the streets of Japan during a catastrophic global pandemic that turns humans into flesh-eating zombies. The story begins at Fujimi Academy, where the sudden outbreak forces the survivors to band together to escape the school grounds and navigate a society that has collapsed into chaos overnight. As the group travels through the city, they face not only the relentless threat of the undead—referred to as 'Them'—but also the breakdown of human morality. The series explores themes of survival, leadership, and the psychological toll of constant danger, as the protagonists struggle to maintain their humanity while dealing with both the infected and the dangerous survivors they encounter along the way.
