I Need Romance follows the lives, loves, and career struggles of three modern, independent women in their 30s living in Seoul. Sun-woo is a successful hotel concierge who has been in a comfortable yet stagnant 10-year relationship with her long-term boyfriend, only for it to shatter and force her back into the unpredictable dating pool. Alongside her close friends—a chic department store manager and a fiercely independent web-drama writer—the series explores the realities of modern romance, friendship, heartbreak, and sexual liberation in the city. As the trio navigates the complexities of dating younger men, ex-lovers, and sudden infatuations, they confront their own vulnerabilities and societal expectations regarding marriage and age. The show is celebrated for its frank, refreshing portrayal of female friendship and contemporary urban lifestyles, serving as a trailblazer for realistic romance dramas in the cable television landscape.
