The story follows Hikaru Genji, the legendary protagonist of the classic Japanese literary work 'The Tale of Genji,' who suddenly time-travels from the Heian period to modern-day Japan. He appears in the apartment of Saori, a lonely and cynical office worker who is struggling with her daily life. Confused and out of place, the elegant and poetic nobleman relies on Saori to navigate the complexities of 21st-century society. As they live together, Saori finds herself charmed by Hikaru's earnest nature and his refined, archaic way of speaking, while Hikaru begins to adapt to the conveniences and oddities of the modern world. The series explores their unlikely bond, blending humor, romance, and cultural clashes as Hikaru attempts to understand his new reality while Saori rediscovers the beauty in her own life through his eyes.
