Impractical Jokers is a hit hidden-camera reality improvisation series starring four lifelong friends—Joe Gatto, James "Murr" Murray, Brian "Q" Quinn, and Sal Vulcano—who met in high school. The core premise revolves around the quartet coercing one another into public, wildly awkward, and outrageous scenarios while communicating via hidden earpieces. If a joker refuses to complete a task or laughs during their turn, they earn a "thumbs down" and face a humiliating punishment at the end of the episode. Over its extensive run, the show has evolved from simple public pranks into a cultural phenomenon featuring elaborate setups, celebrity guest stars, and high-stakes punishments. The major conflict of the series is psychological rather than physical: the eternal battle between preserving one's dignity and maintaining lifelong camaraderie, often resulting in agonizingly funny moments of social discomfort for both the jokers and unsuspecting members of the public.
