In Seoul

"In Seoul" is a relatable and heartwarming South Korean youth drama that follows the complex, love-hate relationship between a high school senior named Kang Da-mi and her overly critical, micromanaging mother, Song Young-joo. Desperate to escape her mother's constant nagging and reclaim her independence, Da-mi sets her sights on getting accepted into a university located in Seoul, which would allow her to finally move out. Along the way, she navigates the trials of high school friendships, academic pressure, and first love, all while trying to figure out who she is outside of her mother's expectations. The series deeply explores the nuances of modern mother-daughter dynamics, contrasting Da-mi's youthful rebellion and insecurities with Young-joo's hidden sacrifices and anxieties about her daughter's future. As Da-mi faces college entrance exams and personal heartbreaks, both she and her mother undergo significant emotional growth. Across multiple seasons, the show expands beyond high school into the challenges of early adulthood, university life, and career navigation, capturing the bittersweet reality of growing up and bridging generational divides.
