Interns is a hit Russian medical sitcom that follows the chaotic and hilarious daily lives of four inexperienced medical graduates as they begin their internship at a Moscow hospital. Under the brutal, sarcastic, and relentlessly cynical supervision of Dr. Andrei Bykov, the interns are constantly put through the wringer, making catastrophic diagnostic mistakes and getting themselves into absurd personal dilemmas. The central conflict of the series revolves around the clash between the idealistic, often clueless interns—and Bykov's unorthodox teaching methods, which rely heavily on psychological torture, dark humor, and relentless teasing. Assisted by his long-time friend, the incompetent venereologist Dr. Ivan Kupitman, and controlled with an iron fist by the formidable head physician Anastasia Kisegach, Bykov tries to turn the rookies into real doctors despite their best efforts to fail.
