Based on the classic Ming dynasty epic fantasy novel of the same name, 'Investiture of the Gods' chronicles the fall of the corrupt Shang dynasty and the rise of the righteous Zhou dynasty. The story blends historical myth, folklore, and Daoist theology, following the celestial mandate given to Jiang Ziya to defeat the cruel King Zhou and his consort Daji, who is possessed by a malevolent nine-tailed fox spirit. As immortals, gods, and mortals clash in a grand war of destiny, heroes are forged and spirits are ultimately enshrined on the Fengshen Bang.
