Kamen Rider Kiva tells a dual-narrative story spanning two time periods: 1986 and 2008. In 2008, Wataru Kurenai, a shy and socially awkward violin maker, is chosen by the Kivat-bat the 3rd to become Kamen Rider Kiva to protect humanity from the Fangire, a race of monsters that feed on human life energy. As Wataru struggles to understand his own heritage and his connection to the Fangire, he must battle the organization known as 'Wonderful Aozora Organization' and the mysterious Kamen Rider IXA. Simultaneously, the story flashes back to 1986, focusing on Wataru's father, Otoya Kurenai. This era explores the origins of the Fangire conflict, the creation of the Kiva and IXA systems, and the complex romantic entanglements that ultimately lead to Wataru's birth. The series masterfully weaves these two timelines together, revealing how the actions of the past directly influence the fate of the present, culminating in a dramatic confrontation against the King of the Fangire.
