"Karpov" is a gritty Russian crime drama television series that serves as a spin-off to the popular series "Glukhar" (Pyatnytsky). The show centers on Stas Karpov, a former high-ranking police lieutenant colonel who was institutionalized in a psychiatric hospital following a severe psychological breakdown and a series of criminal acts. Upon his release, Karpov tries to piece his shattered life back together while battling his inner demons and the heavy stigma of his past. Struggling to find his place in a world that has moved on without him, Karpov takes up a job as a private security guard and eventually forms a team of bounty hunters and vigilantes. Operating in the murky grey area between the law and absolute justice, he uses his deep knowledge of the criminal underworld and police tactics to hunt down dangerous criminals whom the official law enforcement cannot or will not touch. Along the way, he navigates complex relationships with old acquaintances and new allies, constantly wrestling with the question of whether a corrupted soul can truly find redemption.
