Inspired by a classic Joseon-era legend from Korea's first collection of unofficial historical tales, the series follows the story of a mermaid named Shim Cheong who travels to modern-day Seoul. She encounters Heo Joon-jae, a charming but cynical con artist who bears a striking resemblance to Kim Dam-ryeong, the nobleman from her past who saved her life centuries ago. As Shim Cheong navigates the complexities of human life and tries to adapt to the modern world, she and Joon-jae find their fates intertwined once again. Their blossoming romance is threatened by dangerous enemies from both the past and present, forcing them to confront the truth about their previous lives and the tragic destiny that seems determined to repeat itself.
