Leyla ile Mecnun

Set in Istanbul, Leyla ile Mecnun follows the surreal and intertwined lives of two babies born in the same hospital on the same day, who are named Leyla and Mecnun by their optimistic parents. Twenty-five years later, Mecnun falls deeply and hopelessly in love with Leyla at first sight, setting off a bizarre chain of events. The series blends absurdist comedy, magical realism, philosophical musings, and traditional Turkish storytelling elements like Meddah (public storyteller). Alongside Mecnun's quest to win Leyla's heart, the show explores the quirky lives of his eccentric neighborhood friends—including İskender (his father), Erdal Bakkal (the comical neighborhood grocer), İsmail Abi (who is perpetually waiting for a ship), and Yavuz (a charming thief)—creating a beloved cult classic that satirizes Turkish pop culture and soap operas.
