Life is Beautiful

Life is Beautiful follows the lives of a large, blended family living on the picturesque Jeju Island. The story centers on the patriarch, Yang Byung-tae, and his wife, Kim Min-jae, as they navigate the complexities of their children's lives, including marriage, career struggles, and personal growth. The family dynamic is tested by the arrival of new in-laws and the challenges of maintaining harmony under one roof. Beyond the daily domestic affairs, the series is notable for its progressive portrayal of a same-sex relationship between two of the male characters, Tae-sub and Kyung-soo. This narrative arc sparked significant cultural conversation in South Korea at the time of its airing, as the show explored the difficulties of coming out to a traditional family and the pursuit of acceptance within a conservative society.
