Local Hero follows the story of Baek Shi-yoon, a former black-ops agent who has been living a quiet life as the owner of a bar called 'Neighborhood'. Haunted by a past mission that went wrong, he keeps his identity hidden while observing the people in his community. When he encounters a young man named Choi Chan-gyu, who dreams of becoming a police officer but works part-time at the bar, Shi-yoon begins to mentor him. As the neighborhood faces threats from corrupt developers and criminal organizations, Shi-yoon decides to use his specialized combat skills to protect the residents. Operating in the shadows as a vigilante, he takes on the role of a 'neighborhood hero' to fight injustice. The series explores themes of redemption, the bond between mentor and mentee, and the struggle to leave a violent past behind while fighting for the safety of those who cannot defend themselves.
