Love That Makes You Cry

Set in modern-day Tokyo, "Love That Makes You Cry" follows the lives of six young adults who migrate from the countryside to the sprawling metropolis, each carrying their own burdens, dreams, and past sorrows. Sugita Oto was adopted into a harsh farming family in Hokkaido, while Soida Ren migrated from Fukushima after the earthquake, working hard to support his future. When their paths cross by chance, an instant and profound connection is forged amidst the harsh realities of urban survival, economic hardship, and unexpressed feelings. As the narrative unfolds, their lives intertwine with four other individuals dealing with complicated romantic triangles, unrequited love, and the pressure of societal expectations. The series explores the bittersweet nature of youth, the pain of growing up, and how finding someone who truly understands you can bring both tears of sorrow and tears of joy. Through five years of meetings and partings, the characters learn what it truly means to love someone deeply in a world that often demands compromise.
