Luther is a gritty British psychological crime drama that follows John Luther, a brilliant but self-destructive Detective Chief Inspector working for the Serious Crime Unit in London. Haunted by the dark side of humanity and his own personal demons, Luther often finds himself pushed to the brink as he navigates the thin line between law enforcement and moral compromise. His unorthodox methods and obsessive nature make him an effective investigator, but they also alienate his colleagues and jeopardize his personal life. The series is defined by the complex, cat-and-mouse relationship between Luther and Alice Morgan, a genius psychopath whom he fails to convict for the murder of her parents. Their twisted intellectual bond evolves throughout the series, with Alice often serving as an unlikely ally or a dangerous catalyst in Luther's investigations. As he tackles London's most depraved serial killers, Luther must constantly battle the psychological toll of his work, leading to a narrative that is as much about the detective's internal struggle as it is about the crimes he solves.
