Man Who Sets the Table

Man Who Sets the Table is a weekend family drama that follows Lee Roo-ri, a young woman struggling under the immense pressure of her demanding and abusive father, Lee Shin-mo. Desperate to escape her family trauma, Roo-ri flees to Guam, where she crosses paths with Jung Tae-yang, a free-spirited man who lives life on his own terms with deep emotional scars of his own. After a series of dramatic events, their lives intertwine deeply, leading them back to Korea where they must confront their pasts, heal deep-seated familial wounds, and redefine what it means to truly care for one another. The series cleverly balances heavy emotional beats with comedic and heartwarming moments, exploring complex themes such as patriarchal oppression, generational trauma, marriage breakdowns, and late-in-life romance. As Shin-mo faces a sudden mid-life crisis and the disintegration of his family structure, the narrative shifts toward forgiveness, personal growth, and the ultimate restoration of broken household bonds.
