At the elite Hakoniwa Academy, the extraordinarily talented, intelligent, and athletic Medaka Kurokami is elected Student Council President with an overwhelming 98% of the vote. To help her manage the endless requests from the student body, she drafts her childhood friend Zenkichi Hitoyoshi into joining the council. Together, along with the delinquent Akune and the lazy Kikaijima, they tackle various bizarre student complaints through the 'Medaka Box' suggestion system. However, as the series progresses, the scope shifts drastically from a quirky school comedy to a supernatural battle action series involving a secret academy conspiracy and students gifted with superhuman abilities known as 'Abnormalities'.
